Good Review Practices (GRevPs) are an important component of regulatory systems strengthening and support progress in World Health Organization (WHO) Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT) assessment. This poster was presented at DIA 2026 and shares findings from an assessment of knowledge, attitudes and practices relating to GRevPs among assessors at the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA).
The study explored how GRevPs are being developed, adopted and implemented within the agency, while also identifying opportunities for further improvement. Findings indicate that although elements of GRevPs have been established, additional efforts are needed to strengthen transparency, communication, training and ongoing implementation.

Key findings
- Assessors demonstrated good awareness of the purpose and importance of Good Review Practices within regulatory review activities.
- Standard operating procedures, guidelines and reviewer training have supported implementation of some GRevP elements within ZAMRA.
- Perceptions varied regarding the extent to which GRevPs have been fully developed and adopted across the agency.
- Respondents identified opportunities to strengthen transparency, communication and continuous improvement activities.
- Additional reviewer training and mentoring were highlighted as important measures to support broader adoption of GRevPs.
Recommendations
The study identified several priorities to support continued implementation of Good Review Practices within ZAMRA:
- Finalise and publish ZAMRA Good Review Practices guidelines.
- Enhance reviewer knowledge through in-house training and orientation programmes.
- Strengthen the application of GRevPs throughout the medicines review process.
- Improve monitoring of review timelines through the Integrated Regulatory Information Management System.
- Increase transparency and communication through publication of product information, including summaries of product characteristics and patient information leaflets for approved medicines.
